Podbean’s patron program allows podcast fans to support their favorite podcasts financially (“become a patron”) with monthly pledges.
It is just for podcasters and was designed to give podcast listeners the most seamless way (directly via Podbean’s player app or by clicking a badge on your site; simplified donation process) to support podcasts on an ongoing basis. Podbean crowdfunding is designed and managed by Podbean.com and is not affiliated with any other crowdfunding platforms. Users are not required to host their podcast on Podbean.
Crowdfunding definitions:
Patron: a supporter, who pledges a monthly amount to the podcaster. The term patron is frequently used, in the arts especially, to describe “a person who gives money and support to an artist, organization, etc.”(Merriam-Webster.com).
Podcaster: any podcaster can set up a free account with Podbean crowdfunding, regardless of where they host their podcast. You will be asked to verify ownership of your podcast with a simple step, which ensures non-podcasters don’t use the program as means of scamming people.
Rewards: levels of support that you set; these are monthly pledge amounts and the corresponding rewards you provide to your patrons at those levels. Small pledge levels are most popular ($10 and under), so we recommend having a number of small rewards levels. You can be as creative as you wish with your rewards, from thanking patrons, mentioning them on your show or social media to gifts and fun opportunities. Minimum pledge/reward level is $1/month.
Goals: these are funding levels you hope to reach and what you can do with the funding. Examples include upgrading equipment, putting out more shows, special guests or projects and much more.
Your story: this is where you describe who you are, what your podcast is about and what you want potential patrons to know. We also recommend adding a video to share your story in your own voice.
