Podbean Live is a unique platform for turning your podcast production into a live show. Live shows are run through a desktop browser on the host’s computer, meaning that you can use external outboard gear such as interfaces and microphones to get the clearest audio quality during the stream. Below are instructions to connect your interface and/or external microphone on your Mac.

Note - these tests are using Mac OS 10.14 with an Apogee Duet interface.

1. From your desktop, click on the Apple icon at the top left corner of your computer, then click System Preferences.

2. Click “Sound”.

3. Click “Input”. Your input is your sound source, such as your microphone. Make sure that your input is set to your interface or USB mic. This will make sure that your connected XLR microphones and audio devices are picked up during the live stream. If you are using a USB microphone such as the Blue Snowball, you should choose that microphone. 

4. Click “Output”. Your output is where your sound will come out from. Make sure that your “Output” is set to your interface if you’re plugged into speakers.  You can also use your internal computer speakers or headphones. Podbean highly recommends and strongly encourages the use of headphones during the live stream to avoid any echo. 

5. To set up your LiveStream, Log into Podbean.com from Google Chrome.

7. When asked, allow Podbean Live to access your microphone. Your computer should recognize your interface or external USB microphone. You should now be able to use your external interface during your LiveStream.
