While downloads have long been the primary metric for evaluating a podcast’s reach, the Episodes menu(found in your Podbean Dashboard-->Statistics-->Episodes) goes further by offering comprehensive insights into episode performance, download trends, and listener engagement, helping you gain a deeper understanding of your podcast’s influence.

Here is a brief description (click the titles below to get more details):

Episode Performance

Comparing each episode’s performance against the average of your last 10, 50, or all episodes (up to 500) helps you gauge whether new content meets, exceeds, or falls short of your usual performance.

By hovering over the chart, you can access detailed day-by-day comparison stats.

Note: You can select up to 10 episodes to compare.

Viewing the download trends of all episodes or a selected episode helps you understand how the episode’s popularity has evolved over time.

Trends for “All Episodes”:

  • View by Date: View daily downloads of all episodes. Click on the download number to see the breakdown by episode.
  • View by Episode: See downloads for each episode within the selected time range.

Trends for a Single Episode:

  • View by Date: View daily downloads for the selected episode.

Listener Engagement

Podbean Engagement provides in-depth insights into listener behavior.

  • Listeners on Podbean: played your podcast through your podcast website, embedded player, or the Podbean app.
  • Engaged Listeners: played at least 40% of the selected episode.
  • Average Consumption Rate: the percentage of an episode consumed by listeners, on average.
  • Average Consumption Time: the amount of time, on average, that listeners spent consuming an episode.

With visual engagement charts, you can easily spot where listeners pause, skip, or drop off, helping you refine your content and improve audience retention. See more details here.

Note: Engagement data will be available within 24 hours after episodes are played. Episodes with no engagement data will not appear in the episode selector.
